A simulator in two suitcases
PR-2018-01
Offshore drilling equipment
Mar 2018 – Mar 2019
01 Challenge
The existing simulator was bulky and expensive to reproduce. Training in different locations needed something easier to pack, transport and build again.
02 Solution
I developed a custom control board and firmware, replaced costly industrial controls with microcontrollers, and designed vacuum-formed enclosures from printed prototypes. A specialist manufacturer produced the circuit boards.
03 Result
The controls and enclosures formed a repeatable simulator package that could travel in two suitcases.
